By the way you describe it he has it bad. But he also has to be careful just because you are both over 18 doesn't mean he can't still get into trouble. Maybe he wants to wait until you are not his student anymore. that would be you best bet, keep up your awesome friendship and then make a move once the school year is over. that way there is no chance of it effecting your schooling, and he can not get in trouble, so he will not be so tense...
